  1. I like it Denis. The context of David Whyte’s insight is would knowing too. He was, he says, talking to his daughter as if she was the child of previous years and he the all-wise father. Her reaction taught him that she had grown up and he hadn’t realised that she now had her own wisdom. So he re-commenced the conversation with a question: “As your father what do I need to know that I don’t know?” The door to a real conversation opened up and their relationship was strengthened.
