Drawing from our own wells – Day of Reflection

We are at the springtime of the year when nature beckons us to notice the wonder of new life as the daffodils brighten our days and signal that winter is receding. The approach of Lent reminds us to do some spiritual ‘spring cleaning’ so to speak!

The Christian Brothers Province Spirituality Group, in reflecting on the recent workshop in Marino, led by Margaret Benefiel, decided to plan two reflection days outside of Dublin, one in Callan on Saturday, March 11th, and the other in Ballygriffin(near Mallow, Co. Cork) on April 1st.

The focus for the Margaret Benefiel workshop was on listening and conversation. The experience was so positive for the 32 Brothers and 13 others that it has been decided to keep the same focus for the two reflection days. The title for the day in Callan, ‘Drawing from our own Wells’, catches that sense of the richness within each person that can only become visible when it is shared with others. How difficult we find it to share with one another! The reflection days will provide the opportunity to search inside ourselves, to share what is appropriate in a respectful, listening ambience and to be nourished by the wisdom of others. The day will be led by Deirdre Ní Chinnéide. Deirdre is a spiritual director, composer and singer, who  lives on the Aran Islands.

If you would like to attend the Callan event on March 11th, please return the application form to Jim Donovan by Tuesday, March 7th  at the latest.  A light lunch will be provided and the cost for the day is €25. Registration will begin at 9.30am and the first session will commence at 10.00am. The day will conclude at 4.00pm. No deposit is required in advance, but it is essential to book so that the required number of lunches can be ordered. Application form can be downloaded here >callan_application-form_feb22_17

One of the blessings of the Margaret Benefiel workshop in Marino was the richness and variety of the participants. Please do invite your family and  friends, work colleagues, fellow parishioners etc. to the reflection day in Callan on March 11th.
