Timirí will hold its Annual Gathering in Emmaus Retreat Centre, Swords, Co. Dublin on Saturday, 17th November from 2.30 – 6.00pm. Our theme for the day is “Listening to the Cry of the Earth; Listening to the Cry of the Poor”.
We are already experiencing the effects of climate change including deadly heat waves, extreme weather events, and threats to life on earth. There is no denying that human activities, including the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of our natural environment, is a major cause of global warming.
In Laudato Si, Pope Francis says:
I urgently appeal, then, for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and affect us all. […]
Our gathering will focus on this issue and how climate change is impacting on our lives and especially on the lives of the poor. We will explore the theme and our RESPONSE to it through REFLECTION, RITUAL, PRAYER AND DISCUSSION.
The Day will begin with Registration and Coffee at 2.30pm. Our Ritual will follow at 3.00pm and continue until 6.00pm when we will finish with hot tea and dessert. Part of the RITUAL will be held outdoor in the grounds of Emmaus (weather permitting). The cost of the day is €25 and booking in advance would be helpful to the kitchen staff in preparing meals. Payment can be made on the day.
We invite you and your friends to join us on this day. This event is open to friends of Timirí members also. It is important to book beforehand so that we have numbers for meals etc.
I’ve attached a poster with the details of the day. Please contact Dick Fields, firstname.lastname@example.org
