Season of Creation Ritual

Pope Francis has designated 01 September to 04 October [the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi], as the Season of Creation. To mark the end of this period there will be a Ritual in the Marino Institute of Education [MIE] on Saturday, October 6th. A cup of tea/coffee will be available from 6.30pm and the Ritual will run from 7.00pm to 8.00pm.

Pope Francis appeals to us all in his letter, ‘Laudato Si’, to care for Our Common Home. He says:

I believe that Saint Francis is the example par excellence of care for the vulnerable and of an integral ecology lived out joyfully and authentically. He is the patron saint of all who study and work in the area of ecology, and he is also much loved by non-Christians. He was particularly concerned for God’s creation and for the poor and outcast. He loved, and was deeply loved for his joy, his generous self-giving, his open-heartedness. He was a mystic and a pilgrim who lived in simplicity and in wonderful harmony with God, with others, with nature and with himself. He shows us just how inseparable the bond is between concern for nature, justice for the poor, commitment to society, and interior peace.

You are invited to bring with you a flower, a vegetable or fruit from your own garden. These will form part of the centre piece for the ritual, but feel free just to bring yourself!

If you intend to be present at the Ritual, please let me know by Wednesday, October 3rd, as we need to give numbers to MIE.

A donation of €5 would be welcome on the night to help to defray expenses.
